Chevron, others to build school, hospital in Ondo
CHEVRON Nigeria Limited, in collaboration with its partners in the operations of the deep sea Agbami Project, has offered support for the improvement of education and health sectors of Ondo State with two development projects.
The two projects, which are being jointly financed by Chevron, FAMFA, Petrobras, Statoil and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), are the construction of a state-of-the-art Chest Clinic at the State Specialist Hospital in Akure, Also, they are building a science block at the Igbokoda Grammar School in the headquarters of the oil-producing Ilaje council.
In what the officials of the multi-billion dollar Agbami Project, located some 70 nautical miles off the coast of Nigeria, described as part of the projects Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the country, the buildings would be constructed and fully equipped before they are handed over to the state government.
Speaking at the launching of the Igbokoda Science Block, which is designed to house fully-equipped laboratories for Physics, Chemistry and Biology, Chairman and Managing Director of Chevron, Fred Nelson, said the initiative is another step towards furthering the social development of this state.
